The Knicks doesn’t want to trade Barrett and Robinson

The Knicks have been “reluctant” to discuss RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robison in potential trades, reports Zach Lowe of ESPN.

Lowe’s report regarding Barrett echoes what SNY’s Ian Begley reported on Oct.21.

For Begley, “many people in contact with MSG’s decision makers say they expect the Knicks to consider adapting a player with / impacting RJ Barrett when considering a potential move.”

The fact that the Knicks are considering how any external additions might fit in with Barrett suggests they see Barrett as a key cog, not a commercial chip.

As for Robinson, his name is the one that is whispered the most when the Knicks are linked to a potential swap for a star or swap in the project.

There has been no news, however, that the Knicks are shopping for 22-year-old Robinson, who has been one of New York’s most productive players since making his NBA debut during the 2018-19 season.
