The New York Knicks, who boast the NBA’s worst scoring team at a paltry 20.3 points per game, could look to Chris Duarte, who could revitalize their team in a resurgent campaign.
Duarte was once a top-rated target for the Knicks, but they ultimately took Quentin Grimes at 25th overall. Grimes is no longer with the team, but landing Duarte at the end could add a much-needed boost to their perimeter scoring.
The circumstances could open the door for a player like Duarte to get a big burn in New York. Aside from Miles McBride’s 10.7 PPG and Cam Payne’s 8.2 PPG, the Knicks don’t have a single other backup player averaging more than four PPG. That’s a problem. Duarte could make up for that with his ability to score off the rebound and catch, and what could be a burning desire to earn significant playing time again.
