Stephen A. Smith didn’t mince his words when it came to expressing his disappointment with his team. He shared that he was absolutely disgusted by the quality of play the Knicks displayed in Game 4.
According to Daniel Bates of The Spun:
“Well, the first thing I would do is get out of the bathroom because I just finished throwing up after watching my team play like they played in the first half. It was absolutely, downright awful,” Smith said.
“You have to wonder when that level of friction is going to kick in and affect their engine to some degree,” the ESPN personality continued. “I thought we saw some of that in the fourth quarter of Game 3. That’s what concerns me now.”
Nearly everyone on the Knicks roster was neutered in Game 4. Jalen Brunson, who has been red hot for much of this postseason, recorded just 18 points and was the only starter to score in double figures. They had to rely on the bench as Mile McBride and Alec Burks made great strides in the scoring department.
The New York Knicks know they can’t give up Game 5 if they want to get to the next round. Their preparation for this match will be one of the most important they do this season.
