Rumors about the availability of Boston Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown have already started after Boston’s sensational ousting in the Eastern Conference Finals at the hands of the Miami Heat.
Of course, as one of the teams still with a boatload of draft picks and young prospects, the Knicks make sense as a potential business partner should Brown ever be traded.
If Boston decides to drop Brown, would it make sense for the Knicks to go after him?
If New York ever managed to wrest Brown from the hands of its divisional rival, a trade would require more assets to return to Boston. Brown is the prototype of what teams are looking for. He is a two-way forward able to create his own shot off the dribble up front while being able to defend multiple positions. Also, he’s young: he’ll be 27 at the start of next season.
Players like that are hard to find and would demand a lot in a trade. But if Brown is available it would be something the Knicks should pursue.
