Obi Toppin’s time with the Knicks may end this summer

Obi Toppin was the first lottery pick made by the Knicks’ current management team, but his time in New York could end this summer, suggests Newsday’s Steve Popper. Toppin was stuck behind Julius Randle, which prevented him from getting the playing time he needed to develop his game. Popper adds that although Toppin has averaged 21.8 points in five appearances this season, he doesn’t provide the defensive presence head coach Tom Thibodeau wants as a power forward.
