With the NBA trade deadline approaching on February 8, the New York Knicks have some moves they will need to make. The Knicks are expected to look for ways to upgrade their roster and one name that keeps coming up is Dejounte Murray. Murray has been the subject of trade rumors all season and could move if the Atlanta Hawks receive the return they are looking for.
However, according to HoopHype’s Michael Scotto, New York believes the asking price is too high for him.
“I talked about the Knicks as another team that was chasing Murray. This has cooled down. New York currently believes that the asking price for Murray is a little too high at this time. First-round picks, the expiring contracts of Evan Fournier and Quentin Grimes are one thing. That package got kicked. But that extra first-round pick Atlanta is seeking isn’t something New York feels like moving at this point.
If the Hawks’ asking price came down, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Knicks make a play for Murray. According to Sam Vecenie of The Athletic, the Knicks are considered one of the best fits for the former All-Star.
