Mike D’Antoni could reunite with Steve Nash on the Nets staff

The intriguing prospect of Mike D’Antoni and Steve Nash reuniting has caught on with news that the former Knicks head coach could become a candidate for a job as a Nets assistant.

Nash, who flourished under D’Antoni by winning two consecutive MVP awards as the Suns point guard, is on the hunt for experienced coaches for his staff. D’Antoni, 69, would surely be a coup as he is an offensive master of X and O.

Nash, who has no coaching experience other than a part-time gig with Golden State as an instructor, was surprisingly hired by the win-now Nets on September 3.

A source said D’Antoni and Nash are still “united”.

D’Antoni resigned from the Rockets after being eliminated from the bubble to officially become a free agent. D’Antoni is credited with unleashing Nash and turning him into a superstar as he skillfully ran into the speedball offense.
