Josh Hart was a revelation in the playoffs after everything he did for the New York Knicks. As a result, he received a new nickname from one of the best guys to ever play in the NBA, Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson.
Hart first made his way to the Big Apple via a four-team trade involving the Portland Trail Blazers , Philadelphia 76ers and Charlotte Hornets before last year’s trade deadline. In the limited amount of time he played for the Knicks, Hart proved to be a highly productive wing averaging 10.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.4 steals in 25 games.
After Hart’s great performance in Game 5, NBA icon Magic Johnson gave him a new name. In a post he shared on his official X account:
“My main man, Josh Hart, finished with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds tonight. I can tell him Mr. Everything because he does a little bit of everything on the court!” Johnson tweeted.
As it stands, Hart’s two-way performance is helping Jalen Brunson and the Knicks exceed expectations in the postseason. Even though their team was ravaged by injuries, his effective style on the court allowed them to come close to eliminating the Pacers.
If the Knicks hope to contend for a ring this year, Hart will have to continue to do what he can for the team. This way, in the long term, he can justify Magic’s new name.
