According to SNY’s Begley, the New York Knicks were comfortable offering to the Charlotte Hornets a future first-round pick in exchange for former Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier before the 2020 NBA commercial deadline. The Knicks are often cited in collaboration with stars who may request an exchange due to their location in New York City. But the Knicks have struggled to attract free-agent talent, and may need to make a deal to acquire a star before signing one up in the free agency. It’s unclear how Rozier would have adapted to the Knicks. Acquiring an initial quality level guard is a nice step, but it probably wouldn’t have brought the Knicks closer to a star landing.
