Knicks waive guard Allonzo Trier, claim Theo Pinson from the waivers

Theo Pinson will continue his career in the New York Knicks, as the team announced on Friday. Per Ian Begley of SNY, the Knicks waived scoring guard Allonzo Trier to claim the former Nets’ forward from the waivers.

The Brooklyn Nets waived Pinson on Wednesday to sign guard Tyler Johnson. Pinson appeared in 51 games over two seasons with the Nets, averaging 3.9 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 11 minutes per game off the bench.

He also played in nine games for the Long Island Nets of the G League this season averaging 15.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.1 assists.

On the other hand, Trier had a difficult time finding his place in the New York Knicks rotation this season, after a promising rookie year.

Trier played in 88 games with the Knicks, averaging 9.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.
