Knicks, VanVleet to improve the offense

During the 2019-20 NBA season, the Knicks were one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the league, ranked 27th out of 30 teams. They also finished 27th in the overall offensive standings during the season. Marcus Morris and Julius Randle led the team in scoring, two names that could very well find themselves in different teams by the start of next season.

Fred VanVleet’s signing would help on both fronts. VanVleet is coming out of a season in which he averaged 18ppg, seven assists and four rebounds per game. He also shot 39% from 3 points in nearly seven attempts per match. He would have been an excellent companion alongside Barrett; he was successful playing both on and off the ball alongside Lowry with the Raptors.

VanVleet would help space out the floor for both Barrett and Robinson, and could also do some of the directing duties. He averages seven assists per game and could help make Barrett’s life a lot easier on the offensive side of the pitch.

VanVleet would be placed in the starting lineup and the Knicks would immediately improve on the offensive side of the ball. It must be said that he is also a pest on the defensive side, despite being only at 6 foot-1.
