Knicks, Tyrese Haliburton might be the right choice

Tyrese Haliburton may have been the starting point guard at Iowa St., but he probably translates best as a secondary ball carrier in the NBA.

Haliburton is one of the best passers-by in the draft. He is a terrific pick and roll operator who is always looking for an open man.

The problem with Haliburton is that he doesn’t have a great handle or ability to create his own shot, two vital skills to be successful as an NBA team’s primary ball manager.

Haliburton could become a terrific glue boy in the NBA. At 6-5 with a wingspan of 6’7 ″, Haliburton has a good size for a 2 guard.

Haliburton’s ability to pick-and-roll at 2 would put a strain on opposing defenses. While his off-rebound shot may not be great, Haliburton has proven to be a great long-range catch-and-shooter. The Knicks need shooters.

On the other side of the ball, Haliburton has the potential to defend more positions, something Tom Thibodeau would like to have at his disposal. It may not be flashy, but Haliburton could be a good chess piece for the Knicks’ future.
