Knicks, Toronto Raptors’ Kyle Lowry may be a target but he doesn’t guarantee victory

The Toronto Raptors are heading for a crossroads with their fearless leader and general Kyle Lowry. While he remains a key factor, there are some within Toronto’s front office who feel it’s time to split with 34-year-old-free agent-to-be, for B / R Jake Fischer.

“There’s a time capsule for everyone and everything, and it’s probably just time to move on,” a Western Conference executive told Fischer.

Should Lowry hit the trading bloc, it’s not hard to imagine the Knicks being mentioned among his suitors. They’ve been looking for an impact point guard for all time (or at least it seems), and they had previously managed to reach the goal line in a Lowry exchange in 2013 before Governor James Dolan pulled the plug.

Lowry might still make sense in the Empire State as an accelerator on the pitch and cultural sectarian off the pitch, but the time for a chase would be in free will, not during commercial season. The Knicks have too many young guards and directors to justify the sacrifice of important resources for Lowry, who would no doubt improve this club but not nearly to the point of contending for the championship.
