Knicks, Thibodeau praises the defense but asks the team to win

Thibodeau said he was pleased that the defensive numbers were top-notch, but added that he only cares about the win and loss record, which is much rosier than the pre-season projections.

“The most important statistic is victory and we still have a long way to go,” said Thibodeau. “People get stuck in numbers. And you can make the numbers say many things. But the reality is that the most important number is the winning part of it. Have you scored more than our opponent? This is what matters.

“But if we can rely on our defense and rebounds and keep our turnover low, I know it puts you in a position to win regardless of how well you throw the ball on any given night.”
