Knicks, the reasons why Chris Pual can fit in New York

Some New York Knicks fans don’t want Chris Paul. He’s 35, has a heavy contract, and he’s not on the same schedule as potential clients.

On the other hand, this fan base is hungry for success and deserves expertise, even if it’s obviously a short-term proposition.

The reasons Paul might fit in New York are myriad. His ties to new team president Leon Rose are well known and the Knicks have been missing a franchise point guard for years. Furthermore, the God of the point has become an elder statesman. There’s no doubt he was aware of the Oklahoma City Thunder roof last season, yet he was still a fantastic mentor and teammate.

Paul could continue to impart his considerable wisdom to any Knicks prospect not mistaken for him. This includes RJ Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, Kevin Knox, Frank Ntilikina, and Dennis Smith Jr., the latter of whom already has a personal relationship with Paul.

Would someone as competitive as Paul get mad playing on the talentless Knicks roster? Probably. You may not even be able to experience the Madison Square Garden crowd. But in person or not, the fan base would embrace him anyway and make his time in the Big Apple memorable.
