Of all the names floating around in the trade market, the point guard seems to be a position many teams would like to upgrade to. The Knicks are one of those teams.
The Knicks would ideally like to find a point guard other than “Score-first”. Some low-cost names like Ricky Rubio and Devontae Graham were mentioned, but the name that garnered the most steam was Lonzo Ball.
There are so many factors as to why 23-year-old Lonzo Ball makes sense – it’s in line with the Knicks philosophy. The thing is, Ball has increased his value so much that it will probably cost him a pick in the first round and more, which I don’t think the Knicks want to give up.
The team wants to remain flexible and with Ball is an unrestricted free agent in the off-season – The NY Knicks may be waiting to make a run for Ball then. I’m not sure the team will get an exchange for a point guard this season.
