According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, former Phoenix Suns shooting guard Landry Shamet will be signed by the New York Knicks to a one-year deal:
“Free agent G Landry Shamet has agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Knicks, his agent George S. Langberg of GSL Sports Group told ESPN. Shamet is averaging 8.7 points and 38 percent on three-pointers”.
Shamet has been a free agent since July after being released by the Washington Wizards. He played all of last season for Washington after being included in the Chris Paul-for-Bradley Beal trade between the Wizards and the Suns.
Prior to the trade, Shamet had been part of the Suns rotation under coach Monty Williams since his arrival in 2021. Shamet signed a four-year, $43 million rookie scale extension with the Suns in October 2021.
Shamet also played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets before coming to Phoenix.
He now joins former Suns teammate Mikal Bridges in playing for the Knicks. Bridges was part of a splashy trade from Phoenix to Brooklyn for Kevin Durant before recently arriving in a trade from the Nets this offseason.
