The Spurs front office may choose to move DeMar DeRozan while they may still grab a resource or two in a potential deal.
The Knicks may have to let Kevin Knox and another young player go in this deal, but they would have acquired a proven star to aid in their search for a playoff ticket.
If the partnership proves unsuccessful, DeRozan’s massive contract will expire after this season. But if it translates to a playoff spot and a first-round win or two, DeRozan may be inclined to sign with the Knicks again. It’s a big market and this New York team led by Tom Thibodeau is full of potential.
Julius Randle has grown to be a star in his second year with the Knicks, but the team still needs a proven scorer who can pull the strings at important moments. There is no question that DeRozan has the tools to do that yeoman’s job for the Knicks.
