Knicks Rumors, possible trade for Andrew Wiggins

The New York Knicks are still expected to be active on the commercial market in the NBA 2020 offseason. However, the Knicks would not only target any available superstars, they would look for those who would complete and adapt to the RJ Barrett timeline, the overall choice n. 3 in the 2019 NBA Draft. One of the potential commercial targets that would meet these requirements is Andrew Wiggins of the Golden State Warriors.

In his recent article, Fansided’s Blue Man Hoop’s Nathan Beighle suggested possible commercial destinations for Wiggins in the 2020 NBA offseason, including the Knicks. While it’s not expected to immediately turn the Knicks into a legitimate Eastern Conference title contender in the NBA 2020-21 season, Beighle believes that adding Wiggins to their young core could make New York “significantly better” than in previous seasons.

“The Knicks have just drafted RJ Barrett this past draft. Apparently they still feel that it could be the future. However, Kevin Knox who was a former lottery pick is not. Wiggins could come in and be an important resource for this team. One of the worst teams in the East, the Knicks could make two first-round choices for Wiggins and Warriors, assuming Dubs are better than Knicks. Add a LaMelo Ball to the team and then give him an athletic scorer like Wiggins would be the best for his development”.

Wiggins would undeniably be an interesting acquisition for the Knicks, giving them another young and promising talent with huge superstar potential and a very reliable scoring option. Wiggins’ arrival in New York would help them improve their performance, especially in the offensive part of the plan. The 25-year-old forward has averaged 21.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists this season as he shoots 44.7 percent from the field and 33.2 percent over the bow.
