RJ Barrett and New York Knicks faced Anthony Edwards and Minnesota Timberwolves last week. The Knicks lost by one point when Barrett missed a potential winning shot on the bell. After the game, Edwards spoke candidly about how happy he was to see Barrett, instead of Knicks teammate Julius Randle, take the final blow.
“Try not to let Randle take the ball, we will get somebody else beaten,” Edwards said. “With glee, RJ Barrett figured it out. If he had made the shot, we would have lived with it. Here’s who we want to shoot. We don’t want anyone else to take it. “
Barrett responded to Edwards’ shadow by tweeting a laughing face emoji.
The 20-year-old Knicks star spoke further about Edwards’ comments on Monday.
“I thought it was funny,” Barrett said, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. “I don’t usually tweet. I don’t know what was in this. I felt like this was an OK scenario to laugh at.
“Oh, I’m very confident,” she added her about her next opportunity. “I’m very confident, I’m looking forward to the next one.”
