Knicks, RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson will be traded in the top 3 picks

According to NBA insider Chad Ford, to secure a shot at the LaMelo Ball, New York would need to part with center Mitchell Robinson or guard RJ Barrett, as well as choice # 1. 8 overall, to even have a conversation with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors or Charlotte Hornets, who own the top three picks respectively.

During an interview with MSG Network’s Mike Breen in June, Knicks president Leon Rose called Robinson and Barrett “two key young pieces,” which could make it difficult for them to be included in any type of exchange of choice.

SNY’s Ian Begley reported an asking price of Robinson, the No. 8 and a future unprotected first rounder may be enough to induce Minnesota to move to choice # 1. If the Knicks believe their future plans are based on drafting one of LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards or James Wiseman, the three supposed best choices, it might be worth it.

With the Knicks in possession of the No. 8 and n. 27, this simply depends on how much Rose believes the key to reconstruction rests on a selection of the top three.
