Knicks reportedly concerned they should surrender many assets to trade for Chris Paul

The New York Knicks are concerned about the number of assets they should surrender in order to trade for Chris Paul, per Ian Begley of SNY.

The Knicks believe that if they trade many assets to acquire Paul, this will prevent them from having enough ‘capital’ to sign a top class player in the future.

“Paul has been linked to the Knicks as well and there are people in the organization who feel Paul can help jump-start their desire to build a winning culture and can help their young players.

But there is a concern about the amount of assets New York would have to surrender to trade for Paul.

Some MSG people are wary of giving up too many assets in a Paul deal because they want to ensure that New York has enough capital in place for a future trade for another high-profile player, SNY sources say,” Begley reports.

At the same time, Paul and the Oklahoma City Thunder have already engaged in trade talks with the Phoenix Suns.

Paul still has two years left on his current contract, worth around $85M.
