The Knicks had “opportunity” to trade Frank Ntilikina earlier this season, but “some push back” by members of the New York organization led to a deal that was ultimately not struck, Ian Begley revealed by SNY on Wednesday’s episode of The Putback presented by 888sport.
“Just a quick note on Ntilikina’s future – I know there were opportunities to transfer him early in the season, but there were people in the organization who were against making deals at the time,” Begley said.
“Now, of course, he will become a restricted free agent. I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen there, but there has been some opposition against the exchange opportunities, different exchange opportunities that have come up with Ntilikina.”
Ntilikina, 22, is in the final season of a four-year rookie contract worth over $ 18 million. The Knicks have selected Ntilikina with choice no. 8 of the 2017 NBA Draft.
