McCollum has been an extremely constant source of offense since the 2015-2016 season. The veteran holds a lifetime average of 18.7 points per game, while averaging over 20 PPGs in each of the past six seasons. In 2020-2021, he set a record of 26.7 points per race.

The former lottery winner is also an extremely efficient scorer. While some NBA stars require a myriad of hits to post top numbers, McCollum has learned the trade from him.

This season, he has recorded an overall win rate of 47%, along with 44% from behind the three-point arc and 84% from the free-throw line. In addition, he is also delivering five assists per game.

Despite being a little underpowered at just 6’3 “and 190 pounds, McCollum would fit perfectly in New York. Imagine him running pick and roll with Mitchell Robinson. Or driving to the basket with Quickley spotted from behind the three-point line. Imagine McCollum luring defense and switching to an RJ Barrett or Obi Toppin cut.The whole offense would receive a strong boost.

This would also help enormously as players like Barrett, Toppin, and Kevin Knox attempt to establish themselves as consistent offensive threats. While some of those names would almost certainly have been sent to Portland in an exchange, the remaining pieces would have the benefit of an easier offense than ever.

He would have immediately placed himself as the top scorer in the Knicks. There is also the possibility that he could become one of the top scorers in New York in recent times.
