Knicks Make Financial Decision on Veteran Center

Knicks center Jericho Sims will have his $2,092,344 salary fully guaranteed for next season, according to Hoops Hype’s Michael Scotto.

The deadline to decide whether to fully guarantee the contract was Friday. Sims had a partial guarantee of $1,302,359.

Sims, a 2021 second-round pick, has appeared in 138 games over his first three NBA seasons, including 32 starts. Last season, he played in 45 regular-season games, including 11 starts. He averaged 2.0 points and 3.3 rebounds in 13.0 minutes.

Sims is a candidate to be a third-line center behind departing Mitchell Robinson and primary backup Precious Achiuwa. The Knicks lost Isaiah Hartenstein to Oklahoma City in free agency.

Sims is expected to enter training camp in better shape than he has in the past two years. He underwent thumb surgery two summers ago, followed by shoulder surgery last offseason.
