Knicks, LaVine is the right player for MSG

Careful or not, the New York Knicks look ready to try to compete next season. They have commonly been linked to Chris Paul given the connection to their new CEO, but the age doesn’t align well with their current core (if you want to call it that). Taking a chance on a potential younger All-Star would be a lot more fun.

Zach LaVine is the kind of gamer that people flock to Madison Square Garden to watch. He is an electrical marker and would be the funniest Knick since the comet crossed the sky that was Jeremy Lin. Tom Thibodeau’s adaptation into a system is certainly questionable, but perhaps he has finally changed his mind about modern offense. LaVine was a certified bucket, averaging 25.5 points per game last year on .450 / .380 / 802 shooting splits.

Expand this trade to allow the Bulls to go back (something every top team seems to want to do) to bring future benefits to both teams. The Bulls could send fourth pick with LaVine and bring back a pack of Wayne Ellington, Frank Ntilikina, Kevin Knox and picks eight and 27. The market for LaVine may actually be better than that, but it’s about the Knicks. A world where they can eventually add LaVine and LaMelo Ball or Onyeka Okongwu is a homerun.
