Knicks’ Jalen Brunson reacts to losing his All-Star starting spot to Damian Lillard

New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson took the high road after missing out on his first All-Star nod via tiebreaker.

“Congratulations to Damian Lillard, he deserves it,” Brunson said via SNY after scoring 21 points in just 26 minutes in the Knicks’ 122-84 straight-up win over the defending champion Denver Nuggets on Thursday, Jan. 25.

“That’s one of my goals, but the most important thing is how we handle business playing night in and night out. Obviously, it’s an individual goal but I wouldn’t be in that position if it weren’t for my teammates and coaches. So as long as we win, individual things come our way,” Brunson added.

Brunson and Lillard finished tied with a weighted rating of 3.75 behind the unanimous choice of the East’s top guard, Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers.

But the Bucks star beat Brunson in fan votes, 2,236,969 to 1,452,519.
