Knicks in Trouble: Jalen Brunson Leaves Game With Ankle Injury

Jalen Brunson gave New York Knicks fans a scare when he suffered an ankle injury during Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Brunson brought the ball up the court against 76ers forward Caleb Martin in the opening minute of the third quarter. Martin kept the pressure on Brunson throughout. As the Knicks star was crossing the halfcourt line, he accidentally stepped on Martin’s foot and sprained his ankle.

After spraining his ankle, Brunson curled up in pain near the center circle. The Knicks immediately called a timeout after Martin hit an uncontested layup to cut New York’s lead to 54-52.

The Knicks guard limped to the locker room during the break. He left the game with just four points and five assists on 1-of-7 shooting from the field. Miles McBride checked in on Brunson once play resumed.

Brunson has built a reputation as a true competitor who is willing to play through injuries. Despite appearing to be in a lot of pain, he showed his toughness again on Tuesday, when he was later seen clutching his shoe on the bench with the intention of returning to the game.
