New York Knicks rookie Immanuel Quickley took a nasty blow in the season opener against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday and was barred from returning to the game, the team announced.

Quickley recorded 12 minutes before suffering the injury in the first half, scoring five points on his debut. The injury appeared to occur without contact after Quickley stood up holding his hip trying to chase a defensive rebound.

The 25th overall pick left the game after the play and went to the bench to be checked by a coach. He eventually returned to the locker room before he was prevented from returning to the game.

Quickley was on track to receive most of the playmaker minutes against the likes of Dennis Smith Jr. and Frank Ntilikina prior to injury. Once out of Quickley, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau turned to Alec Burks and Julius Randle in a guardless lineup.
