Knicks have a slight positional change in mind for young guard

The Knicks are heading into the 2024-25 season as a much stronger and deeper team. The addition of Mikal Bridges provides another elite scoring option alongside Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle. While Brunson could see a slight regression in scoring due to the new additions, including the extension of OG Anunoby, the team’s defense should make significant gains. However, some key contributors from last season could see reduced roles.

One player who may not see much playing time this year is junior guard Miles McBride. The 23-year-old played in 68 games last season, starting 14. He logged a career-high 19.5 minutes per game, averaging 8.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.7 assists while shooting .452 from the field and .410 from three-point range.

McBride has shown noticeable improvement in his shooting efficiency, making him a more viable option on the wing. Last season, he was tasked with running the secondary ball behind Brunson. However, the Knicks have learned that McBride is not a natural point guard. His strengths lie in perimeter shooting and driving to the basket, rather than running the ball and distributing it.
