New York Knicks fans won’t soon forget their first-round playoff series win over the Philadelphia 76ers last season. Playoff wins and even appearances have been hard to come by in New York over the past two decades, so Knicks fans have made a habit of starting bitter feuds with opposing players, including 76ers star Joel Embiid last year.
Knicks guard Jalen Brunson recently appeared on a live version of the Roommates Show podcast from Central Park, and when the subject of the series against the 76ers was brought up, an impromptu NSFW chant of Embiid’s name broke out in the audience.
Brunson appeared to simply laugh at the obscene chant that erupted.
Embiid isn’t the first player to find himself the target of obscenities from Knicks fans. The New York faithful can still regularly be heard chanting the name of Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young, who tortured the team during the 2021 playoffs. In fact, one fan even spat on the guard during that series, and chants of his name often pop up at events like concerts and baseball games in the New York area to this day.
