Knicks Extend P.J. Tucker’s Stay: Veteran Forward Signs Second 10-Day Deal

The New York Knicks are keeping P.J. Tucker around for at least another 10 days. According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post, the veteran forward has signed a second 10-day contract with the team after initially joining on Saturday, March 8.

“The Knicks are signing PJ Tucker to a second 10-day contract, league sources told The Post,” Bondy reported via X.

Minimal On-Court Impact, Maximum Locker Room Presence

Tucker has logged just two minutes of playing time since joining the Knicks, making his debut in the team’s 120-105 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, March 19. However, New York didn’t bring in the 38-year-old for his contributions on the court.

As a 14-year NBA veteran with championship pedigree, Tucker was signed to provide leadership and toughness in the locker room. His experience and physicality offer the Knicks a veteran enforcer at the end of the bench, without disrupting the current rotation.

What’s Next for Tucker?

By signing Tucker to another short-term deal, the Knicks front office is continuing to evaluate his impact on the team. Per NBA rules, they must decide whether to sign him for the remainder of the season or part ways once his second 10-day contract expires.

For now, Tucker remains a steadying presence on a Knicks squad looking to make a deep playoff push. Whether he sticks around for the long haul remains to be seen, but his leadership could prove invaluable as the postseason approaches.
