Knicks expected to pursue Justin Holiday

According to SNY’s Ian Begley, former Knick Justin Holiday is someone the Knicks front office is considering pursuing in free agency.

Holiday was part of the craft that brought Derrick Rose to New York in 2016. After playing all 82 games for the Knicks the following season, he eventually signed with the Bulls again a year later.

Last season, he was a bench piece for the Indiana Pacers, scoring an average of 8.3 points and 3.3 rebounds, while providing excellent value as a 3 and D player, pulling 40.5% from the center and pulling up the shorts in defense.

The Pacers have reportedly contacted him in hopes of bringing him back, but there may be a bidding war for the 31-year-old winger who is pulling out of a $ 4.8 million deal last season. While the free agency market should be tight, players like Holiday, whose value falls in the mid-range exception bracket, will likely find plenty of suitors.

For the Knicks, they need both shooting and defense along the wing, so Holiday would be a natural fit. It will be interesting to see if they can persuade him to participate in a rebuild without overpaying for his services.
