Knicks expected to hire Walt Perrin as GM assistant

The Knicks are expected to add longtime Utah Jazz executive Walt Perrin to the front office.

Perrin is currently Vice President of Player Player for Utah, where he has spent the past 19 seasons, starting with a main scouting role.

In addition to Perrin, Knicks president Leon Rose has hired Cleveland Cavaliers’ Brock Aller in an executive vice president role that will cover a wide range of areas for the Knicks. Rose also retained Scott Perry as general manager for the 2020-21 season.

In Perrin, Rose hired an executive with a strong scouting background. He was part of a jazz organization that enlisted (or exchanged) Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Gordon Hayward and Paul Milsap, among many others.

In his role as VP of Player Personnel, Perrin had been responsible for evaluating players at all levels and assisting with potential player acquisitions.
