Knicks, Austin Rivers reflects on some trade rumors

Ever since Derrick Rose joined the Knicks, Austin Rivers has taken a back seat. Rivers has appeared in just two games since February 9, scoring just 4:58 on the pitch.

Rivers said Wednesday that he felt that his playing time would take a hit with the acquisition of Rose.

“I think it was a presumed thing already when Derrick arrived. So I already understand and I know he’s Tom Thibodeau’s boyfriend,” Rivers said. “He’s been with Derrick and Derrick is a great player so once again we had our conversation there and he’ll stay.”

Rivers said he heard rumors that Rose would be returning to New York before the season even started, but that didn’t knowingly affect his attitude, and he will remain ready should her name be called.

“Every day I’m here I’ll always be all-in,” he said. “Actually I like all the guys on this team. We have great guys on this team. And because you never know. Maybe they might need me to play or whatever. Crazy things have happened. I’ve seen everything. So that’s nice. of my attitude towards this. Only control what I can control, keep improving, keep getting ready”.

Rivers knows his name revolves around the trading mill, but he knows he can’t do much.

“Obviously there have been things about me that have been moved to other places … Some of the details I’m sure you would like to have, I don’t have them for you,” he said.
