Knicks, Austin Rivers could be a target trade

After trading for Derrick Rose earlier this week, the New York Knicks need to make some additional decisions. Now that they have a bit of an obstacle in the point guard position, guys like Elfrid Payton and Austin Rivers may have fewer opportunities to play.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Rivers is likely to become a player “contenders seek in business deals” as teams try to bolster backcourts closer to the March 25 trade deadline.

Rivers was signed this offseason by the Knicks for a three-year $ 10 million deal and has so far been worth every penny. As a spark off the bench this season, Rivers has averaged 8.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists over .364 from depth.

As the Knicks continue to push for the playoffs, further moves could be made, starting with the playoff position.
