Knicks are reportedly interested in Russell Westbrook

The New York Knicks would look to establish a roster with a win-now mentality under president Leon Rose and head coach Tom Thibodeau.

According to Ian Begley of SNY, the Knicks would definitely be interested in acquiring Houston Rockets’ superstar Russell Westbrook, if he is available.

“Some agents who represent top point guard free agents believe the Knicks would poke around on a potential Russell Westbrook trade if Houston makes him available. It’s worth noting that Westbrook, per sources, saw New York as a welcome landing spot last summer when Oklahoma City was talking to teams about potential trades.”

Westbrook had a disappointing stint in the NBA “bubble”, as he faced injury issues, before the start of the postseason. The Rockets could be up for huge changes this summer with Mike D’Antoni out.

However, it’s still considered a reach to trade their second-best player in the roster, behind James Harden. The Rockets paid a high-praise last summer to bring the former OKC guard in Houston.
