Karl-Anthony Towns trade can make great sense

Karl-Anthony Towns could land in New York.

An Eastern Conference executive reflected on the potential compensation the Timberwolves could get in return:

“No matter how successful this year, the Knicks are still going to be aggressive. So, you want to start with RJ Barrett there. But you can send (Obi) Toppin, you can send (Quentin) Grimes, (Miles) McBride. They don’t want to trade ( Immanuel) Quickley, but if Towns is the goal, maybe they’d trade him. You’d play Towns at 5 if you were in New York, then they’d probably have Mitchell Robinson in the deal, and he could go to a third team. Lots of chances and Minnesota could be a better team by betting everything on Edwards and getting the right bits out of that mix”.

It’s an interesting picture for both sides. A core of Towns, Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, and a number of two-way players around them would make sense. Wolves could build around players like Edwards, Barrett, Toppin, and maybe Quickley.
