Julius Randle reveals a behind-the-scenes story on Jalen Brunson’s 50-point game

Jalen Brunson had a historic 50-point game against the Phoenix Suns on Friday night and Julius Randle made sure he got the green light for his effort. Immediately after the final buzzer, Randle ran to teammate Ryan Arcidiacono to secure the ball for Brunson and in his postgame interview he explained why.

“To be honest, I never cared,” Randle said. “Now I do. …I don’t trust Ryan with the game. They might look at it and think, ‘We can take that.’ I had to make sure I got it, and I made sure.”

I don’t think anyone particularly cared about it until the incident between Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Indiana Pacers. Randle thought someone on the Suns might steal the ball from a role player like Arcidiacono and didn’t want to take any chances.
