Josh Hart tried to recruit 6-time All-Star to join the Knicks

Josh Hart revealed in an interview with CBS Sports that he tried to recruit six-time All-Star and former Villanova Wildcat Kyle Lowry to join the New York Knicks before the 18-year veteran guard signed with his hometown team, the Philadelphia 76ers.

“Yeah, I texted [Lowry],” Hart told James Herbert of CBS Sports. “I told him, ‘Pull yourself up.’ I told him, “(Expletive) with us.” But obviously that didn’t happen, so (expletive) him.

According to the CBS report, Hart and Lowry have become close since they met in a summer game when Hart was an incoming freshman at Villanova.

Lowry was one of the most sought-after free agents on the buyout market before joining the 76ers. If Hart had been successful, Lowry could have provided a big boost to the Knicks’ bench after last season’s Sixth Man of the Year finalist, Immanuel Quickley, was traded as part of the OG Anunoby package.
