Insider shares regarding Knicks Key Starter update

The New York Knicks continued their four-game West Coast road trip with a 119-112 win over the Golden State Warriors on Monday, March 18.

But the win was marred by the troubling update on starter OG Anunoby, who missed the game while returning to New York to have his surgically repaired elbow checked out.

“I’m told OG Anunoby will be out more than just [Monday night] that right elbow has flared up again,” ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on “NBA Countdown” before the Knicks beat the Warriors. “They need it to calm down. It’s unclear how long he’ll be out, but it’s certainly a concern for this Knicks team that doesn’t know the status of Julius Randle moving forward and right now will miss OG Anunoby more than this game.

Although Anunoby will miss several games, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau shared with reporters before the game that his MRI results were clean. However, he showed inflammation in the area where the loose bone fragment had been removed.

“We want to make sure he’s fully healthy,” Thibodeau told reporters, according to The Athletic. “We knew this was a possibility when you bring a kid back from surgery. If there’s discomfort and things like that and he can’t function the way we feel he should function on the field, we’ll just give him the time he needs to calm down and go from there”.
