Tom Thibodeau was once again voted the coach players would least like to play for.
It’s the third consecutive season he’s topped the Players Anonymous poll.
The disrespect comes right after the New York Knicks secured the second seed in the Eastern Conference. With Thibodeau, the Knicks have made great strides in recent seasons. They’re probably a year away from being true NBA championship contenders.
The narrative surrounding Thibodeau is that he pushes his players too much. Many believe that playing for the old school coach is a difficult task due to his incredible attention to detail and the refined roles he expects from his players. However, Donte DiVincenzo , who joined the Knicks last summer, believes everyone has their coach wrong.
“Because there’s nobody in our locker room and everyone who talks is outside our locker room. They don’t know what happens,” DiVincenzo told The Athletic’s Fred Katz. “Thhibs is a great leader. He’s a great coach and he’s done a tremendous job this year, not only dealing with injuries in and out of the lineup, but also bringing out the best in every single player on our team.
