Cole Anthony continues to be tied to the Knicks

The hype surrounding North Carolina point guard Cole Anthony and the New York Knicks persists. In NBC Sports’ latest mock draft, the Knicks should select the former Tar Heels star with draft pick no. 8.

“Anthony’s name as well as his game make him fit here,” wrote Sherrod Blakely of NBC Sports. “His father Greg played for the Knicks and his strengths – a scorer known for being a strong leader – are qualities that New York cannot have too much these days.”

Anthony’s father Greg was a first-round pick by the Knicks in 1991. He played four years with the team, enjoying an 11-year NBA career as a whole.

A proud New York native, Anthony said he wouldn’t mind following in his father’s footsteps.

“I mean look, hey, that would be great – I’d be lucky to be drafted by any team,” Anthony replied when asked if he’d be willing to play for the Knicks.
