Chris Paul is the Knicks’ desperation trade

Bleacher Report has reported a list of those who might be of despair trade in the NBA.

The New York Knicks can give up the rights to several additional players to get Paul into the space cap, or include those guys in the deal if the Thunder carve out some other ways and want to, say, Elfrid Payton.

At a minimum the Knicks must include Ntilikina and Knox to gain interest from the Thunder. Both perspectives have glaring flaws – Ntilikina doesn’t have an attacking game and Knox lacks defense and scoring efficiency – but they’re both young and should improve over time. However, they won’t help New York win next season, and that’s the point.

Paul would give New York a pick-and-roll identity, and Mitchell Robinson would fill home lobs at obscene rates. Julius Randle would be tough, but maybe he could lead second unit. If RJ Barrett came along, New York would also have its secondary director on the wing.
