Carmelo Anthony provides an honest review of the Knicks’ 2024-25 roster

The New York Knicks have managed to turn things around dramatically over the past five years or so, transforming themselves from one of the NBA’s worst-run franchises into one of the association’s best-oiled machines.

This offseason, the Knicks finally made their big move, trading away a ton of draft capital to bring in Mikal Bridges and give the team another of the NBA’s best perimeter defenders along with OG Anunoby, keeping pace with the arms race of the Eastern Conference.

Bridges’ acquisition isn’t a shock to anyone, given the number of Villanova connections he already had on the Knicks’ roster. But compared to some of the names linked to the Knicks in recent years, like Joel Embiid and Donovan Mitchell, Bridges definitely pales in comparison when judged in a vacuum.

Nonetheless, Carmelo Anthony praised the Knicks for sticking with their vision of building a team, deciding to bring in a player who better fits the team, both on the court and in the locker room, rather than someone with a more prestigious name.

“I think they put together a really, really, really good roster. They took their time to put together the pieces that they really needed. They probably had to put a lot of pressure on them to go get a super superstar, any kind of superstar, whoever you think might be worthy of going to the Knicks.
