Center depth has been a concern for the Knicks with Mitchell Robinson and Precious Achiuwa still out. While Jericho Sims has stepped up as Towns’ backup, his limited court awareness and inability to stretch the floor are hampering the team’s performance. Sims’ primary contributors, rebounding and blocks, are areas where the Knicks still struggle, prompting coach Tom Thibodeau to give rookie Ariel Hukporti more opportunities recently.
Once Robinson and Achiuwa return, Sims should be relegated to the bench to focus on honing his offensive skills and improving his basketball IQ. For now, his minutes should be kept to a minimum to avoid hurting the team’s efficiency while he waits for reinforcements.
