Jalen Brunson included in USA 12-man roster for World Cup

New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson will dress for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup this summer, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

Brunson is coming off his best season in the NBA, emerging as the average player on a Knicks team that reached the Eastern Conference semifinals for the first time since 2013.

The 26-year-old guard had posting records (24.0), 3-point percentage (41.6%), assists (6.2), steals (0.9) and minutes (35.0) in his first season with the Knicks after signing. a four-year, $104 million deal last summer.

Brunson was more stellar in the playoffs, averaging 27.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.5 steals. He had four 30-point games against the Heat in the second round of the playoffs, which he finished with a 41-point effort in Game 6 as the Knicks came within one game of taking the series to Game 7.

Brunson joins Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers, Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberolves, Bobby Portis of the Milwaukee Bucks, Austin Reaves of the Los Angeles Lakers and his former Villanova teammate, Mikal Bridges of the Brooklyn Nets, according to The Athletic.

It will mark Brunson’s second time wearing national colors following his MVP run at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship, where Team USA went undefeated in seven games.
